Hi,

I hope that if you are browsing around here you are interseted or assigned to swap with me. I am interested in doing personal swaps. I have also signed up for some swaps at crafster.org. In the past I have done some FQ and block swaps through sites like www.Sew-What's-New.com. But since I only quilt a little and had a lot of FQs and blocks I stopped. But craftster.org's swaps look like fun.

Who Am I

So a little about me.

I am a 30 year old(when did I get so old) mom of two who lives in Northern Canada with my dear husband.
When I am not just mom I work part time as a playschool teacher's Assitant. I work with 3 and 4 years old. It is a job where I basically play. So that is fun!
I also enjoy volunteering with various oganizations that are related to my children (such as the school PAC's and there figure Skating club)
I love crafting. Mostly I enjoy Textile crafts such as sewing and quilting. I also enjoy crocheting but I am still an amateur. I dabble in other crafts but don't really draw or paint. It is just not where my talents lie.
I love to read. My guilty little secret is that I devour cheesy romance novels. I usually throw in something a little smarter every 3 or 4 romance novels.
Even though I am not employed in either of these fields I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in English. So I am a bit of a nerd.
I am not very concerned about my appearance. I don't wear make up or wear the most fashionable clothes

My Family

My dh is 33 and we have ben together since University. He grew up in the town we live in(that is why I live here). So we have been married for 9 years. He is employed in the aviation and runs the local cadte program. He is like the better part of me. Very level headed and calm where I am flighty and excitable. He like science fiction and shooting sports.

My son is 9. He is smart but socially inept. He was my suprise baby but I can't imagine him not being here. He has a very dry sense of humour and loves Science. He reads everything and anything that he can pick up. Lately he has been practicing to be a teen ager. He is involved in skating.

My daughter is just about 8. She is very social. Loves lots of activities such as skating, gymnastics, brownies. Loves being the center of attention. At home she likes crafts. She likes girly things such as barbies and Jewelry and dress up. She is very hard working and has very high expectations for herself. Tends to be a little bit of a perfectionist. She is a golden haired summer girl who lives in the wrong part of the world.

Swapping With Me

So here is al little more information on what I would like.

Things are very expensive in Northern Canada if you can get them. There is not a lot of choice or selection so basically what I would love is anything. It is 14 to 16 hour drive to the real world so I can't just run to Walmart or Michaels.
We have a craft store here that has some quilting fabrics but no fashion fabrics. I often sew clothes for my daughter and costumes for skating. I would like slinkys or jerseys or satins, or silks. Even if they are FQ or 1/2 yd pieces that I can use to trim or combine with something else.
I love Vintage patterns. I have quite a few in childrens sizes that I would gladly swap. But also would love different ones.
I love Vintage notions like buttons and zippers.
Trims, ribbons, lace,... These are not available here.
We can only really get plain old Lion Brand yarn here. Nothing fancy, nothing different, nothing unique.
I would love things that are unique to different areas of the world.
I would love things I could do with my children
I would love things I could use with my playschoolers.
Like every woman in the world I am obsessed with my kitchen or cool little kitchen gadgets or acessories would be fun.
My favorite colours are Darker blues and reds. I do not like pastels.

What could I send?

I have a large scrap bucket of fabric pictured above. Most of this is FQ or smaller pieces. There is a lot of variety as to size shape and fabric type. If you are looking for something for appliques or quilting or crafts just ask and I will see what I can find.
Like I said abouve I have Vintage patterns in child and teen sizes that I would exchange.
I have some pom poms and beads
I have little woden mice
I could send stuff unique to the North (including some unique teas or Beef Jerkey or crafts)
I could send local paraphelia
I have some really interesting instructions on Northern crafts like Birch baskets and beading and Tufting.
